Helen was a devout Christian, a devoted mother, a nice hostess and an excellent cook. She was active in church affairs and taught in Sunday School. Her early death left a void in the community that was hard to fill. She died from an infection that today can most often be easily cured. At that time the medicines, which would have effected a cure, were just not available.
Albert was a teacher in country schools in the Loudonville are a for quite a few years. He left teaching about the time that they were centralizing the schools. He was well liked as a teacher. As a young man he drove a real sharp rig (horse & buggy) of which he was quite proud. He was the 2nd youngest of a large family; his father was Henry Arnholt, his grandfather was Michael. His mother was Mary Paster Arnholt.
In the early 1920's he started a poultry and egg business; operating part time from his home. His business improved and they moved to Loudonville, where they bought a home on S. Market Street, in order to have better facilities. His business continued to improve so he built a new building next to the river bridge in Loudonville. At one time he was dressing thousands of chickens and other poultry every month. In addition he was handling large quantities of eggs. In the mid 30's, after his mother died, they moved to the house on North Union Street, where Albert still lives. In the 60's they started large scale battery raising of poultry in the south. This killed the local poultry raising in OH as they could not compete. He then sold his building and retired. He is a devout church member, Zion Lutheran, and he and Helen were both active in church affairs. He taught in Sunday School for many years.
Obituary: Many Friends Pay Final Tribute at Rites for Mrs. Helen Arnholt Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran church Sunday afternoon for MRS. HELEN ARNHOLT, well known Loudonville woman who died early last Friday morning at General hospital, Mansfield, where she had been a patient for 10 days following a sudden illness the previous week. Mrs. Arnholt had been active in church and club affairs and had held the office of president of the Ladies Aid Society of Zion Lutheran church for a number of years. The church was well filled with friends who came to pay their final respects as Rev. Harold T. Grabau, pastor, conducted last rites amid a profusion of flowers. Elmer Stitzlein jr. sang the tenor solo, "My God and I" and a women's sextet from the church choir sang "Lift Up Thine Eyes." The Ladies Aid society, the Whatsoever class of Zion Lutheran Sunday school and the American Legion Auxiliary attended the services in separate bodies. The remains were taken to the Loudonville mausoleum where the Legion Auxiliary participated in a brief memorial service conducted by Mrs. Eugene Miller and Mrs. Earl Simmons. Commit?? services were held at 9:30 Monday morning at the family plot in Loudonville cemetery. Arrangements were by the T. B. Gilb? funeral home. Mrs. Arnholt, 48, was the wife of ALBERT ARNHOLT local poultry dealer. A native of Big Prairie, Wayne county, she was born April 29, 1900, to George H. and Ella McMillen Breitenbucher. She was a member of Zion Lutheran church, past president of the Loudonville Women's club, the Garden club and American Legion Auxillary. Survivors are her husband, Albert, a son, Robert, and a daughter, Janice, all of Loudonville; a brother, Harold Breitenbucher of Lakeville, and two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Stitzlein of Loudonville and Mrs. Herbert Mackey of Fredericksburg, and a granddaughter. note - Died June 4, 1948 - Friday
