He was a heavy equipment operator, most in Cleveland. Lawrence w as a good student and also an athlete. He played on the Loudonville HS football team. He was very industrious. When Pleasant H ill dam was built in the 1930s, he obtained a job as a laborer. He helped put in the cement work and the by-pass tunnel wit h the dam and then broke in as a heavy equipment operator which job he continued when he returned from the army and was employed for quite a few years at the Plechaty Corp in Cleveland. After he married Jean, he worked into women's clothing sales and wa s a regional sales manager in Houston where he died from cancer of the spleen.

He was a RR car inspector and was killed in Akron, Oh, yards because a train was moved, without notice, while he was underneath it making repairs. Buried Akron, belonged to Lutheran Church located on W Thornton St, Akron. George was a car inspector for the Penna RR and was killed by carelessness. The yard crews started to move the cars that he was working on and he was run over. They failed to check to see if it was safe to move. They moved to Akron shortly after they were married.
