Emigrated with his father, mother, a sister and a brother. Christian told his children that on the way over they drifted back farther than they came other days. Ora Bross of Mt. Vernon, Ohio has in his possession the trunk that Christian brought his clothes over in. Thelma Lebeau of Mansfield, Ohio also has a chest with Bross written on the front of it. It was used by the family on their way over. In Germany they wrote the first letter "S" i n Bross with a long "S". When they came over here, they dropped the long "S".

He married Mary Josephine Miller from Pennsylvania. Christian and Mary settled on a farm two miles east of Greer, Ohio. Later in life he purchased a homestead four miles southeast of Danville, Ohio, where he resided with the exception of the last few year s he spent with his children.

When 14 years old he was united with the German Lutheran Church and remained faithful until his death.
